I'm so shocked and saddened to hear the news about Judith yesterday; she was my next door neighbour in Brackley for about 4 years. The week I moved in, she put a note through my door saying 'I'm making a quiche and salad later and wondered if you'd like to share it in the garden with me later', along with her phone number - I called her to accept, and she said 'see you later - you bring the wine!' which I did, and we sat in the garden for hours chatting and laughing, she had a hilarious sense of humour and was such a funky, modern-thinking 50-something who put me to shame cycling past my door early in the morning when I was just making my first cup of tea in my pyjamas! She loved gardening and was always telling me to help myself to the raspberries etc in her garden. When I offered her some redcurrants from my garden in return, suggesting she might like to make some redcurrant jelly, she said 'no thanks, life's too short, they sell that in Tesco!!' Sums her up perfectly, life was indeed too short, but she made the most of every moment of it.
