I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Judith’s tragic accident. We first met at a race meeting in Ascot many years ago – an “outing” organised by a mutual friend, and we subsequently enjoyed the sort of friendship that survived in spite of long gaps caused by our two busy lives - always picking up where we left off, as if it were yesterday. We laughed through boozy dinners – sometimes in restaurants, sometimes at “Chez Jay” and sometimes at my place. We enjoyed the theatre together – most recently when I had some theatre tokens to spend, a generous gift when I left my last job, I chose to take Judith as my guest. I couldn’t decide which play to see and Judith suggested “War Horse” – a perfect choice –we saw it in June this year, preceded by a jolly pre-theatre supper at Zizzi’s (more laughter !!). We laughed our way round Paris a couple of times, and when Judith expressed a long-held desire to visit Cuba, before it all starts to change, I was delighted to accompany her – we were there in November 2006 – it was a wonderful adventure (and we laughed a lot !!). I’ve had some difficult times over the past four years, but in spite of her own troubles Judith was frequently in touch - by phone, email or a quick note, to offer advice and words of encouragement & hope. A special person - I’ll miss her very, very much. Sue xxxxx
